Many household objects can take on unusual lives with a fresh look. A simple three-tiered onion basket, for instance, will make a stunning summer planter.

Materials:

3-tiered onion basket
Sheet moss
Potting soil
5 small trailing plants that tolerate dry conditions.

Directions:

1. Line tiered baskets with sheet moss.

2. Place plants in baskets: one on top tier, two in middle, and three in bottom tier.

3. Fill in around plants with potting soil.

4. Cover top of soil with additional layer of sheet moss to keep it in place when being watered and to help retain moisture.

5. Hang onion basket planter.
