Big Bugs at Garden in the Woods

Greg Lowenberg, Ecologist at Garden in the Woods, will tell you that insects play a vital role in maintaining a garden's ecosystem.
Often when we think of bugs, our reaction is negative, but in fact without them we could not survive. Insects play an essential role in seed distribution, pollination and fertilization, to name a few of their roles in the garden. These tiny creatures really do play a huge role in our world!

Garden in the Woods is sparking interest in insects and the critical role they play through the installation of the "Big Bugs" show. It is a traveling exhibit of enormous insect sculptures made from wood and other natural plant materials. Through a radical scale shift the sculptures put humans beneath the feet of insects to help us see them in a new light and realize the magnitude of their role in our web of life.
